French Toast… desi style :)
Chopped onions, coriander leaves, green chilli and ground spices like turmeric, coriander, chilli and garam masala were added to the egg mixture.
I wasn’t kidding when I said everything must be taken with spice in this continent!
assalamu alaikum Have you eaten bread pakoras yet? They are cooked with the addition of ajwain :).
You can also get a desi super sweet “french toast” called shahi tukri (tukdi). They deep fry dry bread pieces, then soak them in sugary milky syrup. The mushy, deep fried, sugar laden bread is then sprinkled with gems of almonds, pista and sultanas.
So, it might be better to call it the land of extremes :) (extreme mirchi or extreme mithai)!
wa `alaykum as salaam Raihanah!
I LOVE pakoras – my propensity to consume deep-fried foods is legendary :) Haven’t tried bread pakoras with ajwain though … MUST try!!
You’ve just given me more ideas for blogging – the SUGAR (how could I forget mithai!!), the oil… :P
