My kids and I have been blessed with really wonderful homeschooling resources, alhamdulillah. My husband has always been supportive and hardly ever questions my purchases. *grin* A fellow homeschooler in Singapore also ran an online store and ordered all sorts of books and curricula which helped me save on what would have been exorbitant shipping charges. Best of all, I live close to a library in Singapore and in Pakistan, am able to find loads of books going for a song at the second-hand bookstores.
I’ve often wondered what would happen if I weren’t able to afford books and curriculum packages. It’s made me a bit of a hoarder, I admit! Everytime I find study materials or curricula for free, I download and save… just in case! I still prefer to have my books on hand – it is so much more convenient than having to research, save, print and bind material myself, but it is good to know that it IS possible to homeschool for free if one is strapped for cash.
So here’s my list of free resources:

As salaam alaikum, Welcome back, sis. Jazakillah khayran for your resources.
BTW, my blog is private now, but I added you to the list with the username, Iman. Please let me know if that is wrong.
wa `alaykum as salaam wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuh Adeela!
I’ve just checked your blog out – so many new goodies ma shaa Allah! Jazakillah khayran for adding me!
Assalaamu alaikum sister and jazzakillahu khair for the list of resources! I am a download obsessed mama too! I can spend wayyy too much time looking for resources. I love reading homeschooling sisters’ blogs :) I do miss books tho and I would much prefer looking through a book than read online but alhamdulillah we make do with what we have.
Thanks again :)
wa `alaykum as salaam wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuh Sister :)
Wa iyyaki – I’m glad you found the links useful alhamdulillah. I know what you mean about preferring actual books over ebooks – I’m old-fashioned like that too! Your blog is nice ma shaa Allah :)
Jazzakillaah Khayr for these links sis. It will be very useful for me in the future too with no libraries here : )
Wa iyyaki! So glad they are helpful – I know how hard it can be to not have ready access to a library!
[…] wrote a post about homeschooling for free a long while ago. Some links are now outdated so I’ll be revisiting and reposting these […]
Assalamualaikum Sister,
Thank you for sharing the free resources, its really helpful when we have gone over budget with one subject and now need to find cheaper or free alternatives for the other subjects.
One note of caution though. Some of the resources you have shared are copyrighted materials which those websites have shared without the publishers’ permission for example the Scott Foresman grammar and writing. Before sharing please make sure that the content has been specified to be used freely by the publisher or writer of the curriculum themselves. Using copyrighted material without the publishers permission is stealing. May Allah protect us and help us be more vigilant. I know this is not something we realize or think of much but we should be careful and I kindly wanted to bring your attention to this matter.
(I came across this resource myself a couple of weeks ago and got so excited but realized the content has been shared by a third party. I contacted the publisher to ask for permisson to use it and they said their policy only allows upto 10% of the content to be used like that with permission from them, if you want to use more than you need to buy the book. So clearly they have not authorized for this resource to shared for free)
JazakaAllahkhair
